Distinguished Professor of Sustainable Agriculture and Community Based Food Systems at NC State University, and Director of the Center for Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS), a partnership of NC State University, NC A&T State University, and the NC Department of Agriculture. CEFS (founded in 1994) work includes production systems research. outreach and teaching at the 2000 acre Cherry Research Farm and also statewide programming in local food systems development including many forms of institutional procurement activities including Farm to ECE, Farm to School, Farm to University, Farm to Grocery store; Food Policy Council development and support; youth engagement and leadership; supporting the development of the sustainable meat supply chain in North Carolina; addressing racial equity in the food system and more. Founding Board Member of the Foundation of for Food and Agriculture Research.
