Please welcome Marion Kalb to the DDPHE Food Systems team as the Community Food Data & Outreach Program Administrator. She comes to us from Jefferson County where she was the Food Systems Coordinator and she facilitated the Food Policy Council. Ms. Kalb has worked with Council members to educate legislators about how the Farm Bill impacts Jeffco residents and in supporting municipal ordinances favorable to urban agriculture and those participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (food stamps). Prior to working with Jefferson County, Ms. Kalb successfully launched the first statewide organization for food pantries, the Colorado Food Pantry Network, working with Hunger Free Colorado. Marion spearheaded the national farm to school movement in 2001 and helped draft legislation creating the USDA National Farm to School Competitive Grant Program. Ms. Kalb was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Gabon, Central Africa and has a M.A. in Urban Planning from UCLA.
