Since 2009 I have been working with our Gourmet Gorilla & Grow Good Foods team on our continuously evolving business. This has been one of the most challenging and rewarding of projects that I have ever undertaken, and I know my wife, who is the president would say the same. I am hopeful that one day we can seamlessly link small local farms to the meals we serve in schools throughout the U.S. through the application of smart technology, good agriculture practices, and efficient distribution and production methods. Through our partnerships and collaborations with local/regional producers such as grain farmers and grass-fed dairies, we are able to create value-added products that not only enhance the nutrition in institutional meal programs but help create community wealth by encouraging co-manufacturing with the producers themselves. It's a long road to walk but an important one. We have also had success with job creation and partner with local workforce development agencies. Our culinary center speaks 20 languages, we just counted the other day! many of whom are refugees, that have been with us for an average of over 3 years.
